Happy 144th Canada Day!

Today is the day we Canadians celebrate this great land we live in.  The true north strong and free!  Our family usually heads to the Canada Day parade in the city next to us and then plan our day around an afternoon nap so that we can stay up late and enjoy fireworks at dusk.  Being quite far North, it is not dusk until 11pm (ish) which makes for a very long day!

I put out our Canadian flags, was sure to wear red and white, and we all cheered and clapped from the street-side at the parade.  There are many celebrations going on today, and Shannon at AKA Design has some great ideas for decorating in style.  Her ideas can easily be adapted to add blue in order to celebrate American Independance Day on July 4th.  The flag picture is from her website.

Wherever you are today, enjoy yourself, and give us Canadians a salute in honour of this great country's special day!
