Oh am I am soooo excited! I'm wiggling in my seat! I'm bursting with joy! I'm... Well you get the idea! I had the chance to go outside and roam the backyard for a bit - and look what I found! Blooms, and blooms, and - OH YA - more blooms! So pleasing to see something that I really have nothing to do with work out!
This is the first poppy to ever bloom in my yard. Isn't it gorgeous? I thought for certain it was going to die because it had a bug take up residency. The leaves were all turning yellow and the poor thing looked awful. What's a girl to do but coo to it a little, water a bit, and hope that after all eviction notices were served, the plant would survive. It is looking much better now, but has a ways to go yet.
I believe this is Dianthus (Sweet William). A beautiful carpet of pink blossoms. It was growing like crazy with all our rain, but no blooms for what seemed like an eternity (at least in my gardening world). Look at it now! It was sure worth the wait! What a show!
I really enjoy roses. From my garden posts last year you may remember several I had in my gardens. Yes, you read that correctly; had. Of the four that were still living at the end of the season last year, only one survived - it's a heavenly colour though! So sad about the others. I have sworn off roses for a while. Apparently my purchasing them is pretty much a death sentence, and what flower-loving-lady (such as myself) wants to give a darling plant all happy in the greenhouse the heebie-jeebies by suggesting I take it home to kill it? Indeed, a break from roses.
Maybe I can find some more survivors to take pictures of as the days of summer pass by. Cross your fingers we still live on Normal Street and not Death Row! (poor roses - sigh)

Heather, your flowers are beautiful. I was looking at mine today and I have all YELLOW!! Need to get some more colors in there! Barb
What beautiful blooms Heather! I don't do roses any more either, too much work, the last one I had died of neglect! it came from very old root stock and was a tiny little pink thing....now no more!
Beautiful blooms! Wish I had had luck with my poppies. Thanks for sharing yours.
Roses and our yard just don't get along well. I've tried for years and finally gave up. Too many problems-- fussy about too much or too little sun, weathering over the winter is a problem, and then the bugs or blight or whatever makes the leaves turn spotty and weird. I prefer flowers that come up and bloom. End of story.
I got a surprise in the mail today, all the way from Alberta. You sneaky lady! You didn't have to, but thank you. I know exactly which project those cute 30s fabrics are going into, one teabag is already used, and that pattern is so tempting.
I appreciate your generosity, Heather.
Beautiful flowers! I"m no good at growing flowers. I enjoy seeing them but I hate planting and weeding!
