I couldn't resist! After receiving an email from a cyber-friend, who is also from Alberta, asking for a favour, I knew it was going to be a great day! Gerda sent me a quick note requesting some fabric from the quilt shop in the city that we both love. Now how could I turn down a trip to Traditional Pastimes? She was practically forcing me to go - really she was! *grin*
Like I said, I couldn't resist... The new William Morris! They had it all bundled up, tied with a ribbon, colour coordinated, and dying for me to bring it home. Just the thing I can't turn down! I am not usually a person to fancy an entire line of William Morris, usually one or two bolts jump out at me, but this time... Oh it dragged me right in!
So, home they came with me. How could I resist?! (Did I say that already?) For some reason I can walk by fabric on the bolt, pass over the pattern rack, bypass the books, and even wander on by the samples and kits... But when items are all prettied up in bundles with ribbon, folded fancifully with bows, and ready to pop themselves into my hand - I fall to pieces!
I think I have an idea of what to make with these lovelies, but it'll be a while before I get to it - if ever. I find in the summer it is so hard to make it to the quilting room and come up with something productive... I mean other than staring at the shelves and dreaming about what to make with all that's there.
Hopefully you all are finding your way to the sewing machine and the garden this summer. So far, not so much in my household.
Heather

I'm not overly familiar with William Morris prints, I have only ever had one piece! They look to be very delicate prints!! I look forward to seeing what you do with these treasures!!!
Well, now you have done it !!!!!! I was in a quilty shop on the way home from Niagara Falls and my eye glanced at a wee applique wall hanging. Did I say glanced, tis true, I was even at the check out. Deciding that I needed a closer look, it progresses to asking for the pattern. Well, no said the nice lady, it actually comes from a book. Oh, said I, cringing I asked which one thinking a book was a lot more $$$$'s and she places in my hands a William Morris book that I have been coveting for some time, not buying because surely the guild library will have it, right. WELL. THANKS A LOT. No more will power, quilt store here I come. I can hear you giggling as I type. :)
Ohhh super nice fabric! You've got me turned onto Traditional Pastimes now, I had never been there before you mentioned it a while ago and now I LOVE it!!
I love how they have all the precuts and bundles - can't wait to see the new projects you work on with your new fabric!
Beautiful prints, love a lot of his designs, they work great in punched and hooked pieces too. So hot lately, I have been making small items and working in my garden late, to avoid the sun.
