It's Definitely Red!

A couple of weeks ago my Mom sent me an email advertisement from Amazon.ca.  I'll  confess, I am not always ready to jump on the junkmail bandwagon, so I was a little slow to read it.  Slow meaning, I didn't open it that second, but saw the subject on my Crackberry (aka Blackberry) when it arrived.  No worries though, my Mom called me five minutes later to let me know she had sent it!  Do you get the idea it must be important and not just junkmail?

It turns out that Amazon.ca was having a sale in honour of Canada Day (which was July 1) and there were several items on sale that were red or white (and a few other colours too).  Since my entire kitchen has been turned upside-down with my allergy diagnosis, and I am now making everything from scratch, I was in desperate need of a stand mixer.  That's right, was.  I shopped around like mad, but couldn't find a price to beat the Amazon sale of $278 for a $500 KitchenAid Pro500 lift-bowl mixer and free shipping.  However, the catch...  It was red.
Oh well, a fancy colour doesn't affect the function so I ordered it and am happy to say that it arrived today!  And oh boy!  Is it ever red!  What do I make first?  Bread?  Cake?  Some other biscuit-type thing?  Mmmm, mmm, mmm...  The wheels are turning, the baking book pages are turning!  Move over Captain Hook!!  Look who's Captain of the Hook now!!

I haven't tried to fit it in the cupboard yet, so there could be another flurry of re-arranging in my kitchen over the rest of the week.  I know many people keep their mixer on the counter, so I suppose that is an option...  I may need to make a cover for it though, I'm not so sure about the red, RED yet.  Maybe it will grow in me!

So, what do you use your mixer for the most?  Do you have a fancy one?  Your Grandma's old one?  Is it on the counter or in the cupboard?  Fess up out there, now's the time to share about how much you love your mixer!  I sure could use some dairy free, sugar free (or at least brown sugar free since I can figure out the substitution for regular sugar), egg free (or 2 egg maximum) recipes!

Happy mixing!
Heather

Well, it certainly is red, I LOVE IT, but then I'm a red kind of gal. (considering I just bought/won a red leather jacket). HAPPY ANNIVERSARY my love, take it out for a test run and get the kinks worked out so when I get there, little Miss and Grams can take for a spin too.

Great color and congrats! Everyone should own a Kitchen Aid.

When I got my Kitchen Aid I felt like such a grown up...LOL. Mine is plain old white and it sits on the counter where it gets used often. I have all the various attachments but admittedly I use it mostly for baking and blending mixes for gellato.

You'll have lots of fun using it.

Heather, you are going to love that! Mine is a lower model Kitchenaid, and still is a workhorse. I didn't have a stand mixer before and I can't imagine now how I got along without it.

Make bread! It is so easy to do it with that dough hook. I never could make bread that would rise properly - turns out, I think, I was adding too much flour and not kneading enough. With the quick rise yeast and the Kitchenaid, I can whip up a batch of cinnamon buns in 1.5 hours!

You WOULD ask. I use a hand beater, purchased from an antique mall. It's HEAVY metal - real metal - and runs as smooth as silk. If I had a mixer as fancy as yours, I could get used to red - even love it - real quick! Have fun.

I just love the red. I've got an old Kenwood Chef mixer that I paid $20 for. I use it to make pavlovas and big batches of cup cakes (I can make 3 batches at a time)!

What a deal! I've had the same Kitchen Aid mixer you have - where the bowl goes up and down. The best model imo. They only came in white when my sister bought mine for my wedding over 30 years ago! It is a workhorse. You'll love it. Red isn't my favorite either, but what a fabulous red this is!

I have the black kitchen aid and love it! We use it for just about everything. And store it on the floor of our pantry closet!

Wow! it is RED and wonderful! My Mum always used one, but I haven't got one.....yet! I'd love a blue one, as my kitchen stuff is blue/white! I sure hope you have a lot of fun using it!!!

I would love love to have a kitchen aid. Am saving. They are around the $750.00 mark here. I make most things from scratch. Way to go. Then you know what you are eating!
Have Fun
Cheers
