I know it's Wednesday, and there should be a One Flower Wednesday post, but I had to put the flowers aside this week... I've been holed up in my quilting room lately... And boy was it wonderful! I haven't been able to say that in ages, and saying it is wonderful too! Since I've been tucked away, I actually have some projects to show you! I have a personal favourite, but I'll let you decide for yourself which one is yours.
For Jo's Little Women Club I finished the top for the first project. I was all set to quilt it and then realized that I didn't have the right size/shape of batting! Ack! I have a spare bits of batting basket in my quilting room closet, however, earlier in the day I had moved a whole whack of stuff around in my room and put everything in front of the closet door. Oops! No batting for me for a bit!
I enjoy making Jo's projects because they are usually very straight forward, accurate, and have very good instructions if I get to a tight spot. However I am not usually one to make TWO of the same thing! However, there is method to my madness. The second quilt top (pinks and blues) is actually the start of a medallion quilt. We'll see how the rest of it goes as the months of Club progress.
And then there was this craziness!! How in earth I actually got it finished I have no idea! But, I can safely say that every Jo Morton cubby hole of scraps has been searched out and cut into 1" strips! There are 4 rounds of light and 4 rounds of dark on each of 16 blocks, that makes for a LOT of "no-two-the-same" fabric pieces being flung around my sewing room!
Now that this set of 16 blocks is done, it will be much easier to put the next 16 together using the same strips and adding in a couple here and there. I had to make a colour copy of the block page in the magazine that this pattern comes from so I can remember which round I am on! I didn't want to write on and doodle to death my magazine, and I needed a handy page to refer to... Thank heaven for colour copiers or this project start would not have had such a pretty outcome!
Also, this week while I was running errands in the city, I stopped in at the quilt shop there and found this fabulous Jo Morton pattern book. It's from many years ago when Jo was still self-publishing her works. Even though it is 8 years old, all the patterns it showcases are timeless. There are a couple in it that will make the to-do list for sure!
Jo Club is this week, so I'll be sure to have an update on what the next projects are shortly. Happy stitching until then!

I love all your Jo projects but the courthouse steps is fantastic. I tried two blocks just to see if I liked it before I cut all those little strips and, of course, I did. I like the idea of making a colored copy as that would help a lot.
Very nice work on everything!! Can't wait to see your finished Courthouse Steps :) What background fabric is that in your first pic?
You're the 3rd blogger today with a post mentioning a lucky find in a shop or at an auction. Some of the older books are indeed classics with patterns that never are out of date.
You're fortunate to have a Jo's Little Women's Club to attend. I wish had such a group in this area. I live in a void. So much changed when my favorite local quilt shop closed.
Love your courthouse steps blocks.
Absolutely love the courthouse steps blocks!!! They are timeless treasures! Your medallion project sounds interesting, look forward to seeing where you go from here!!
Both versions of your Jo Club project are yummy!! Love your courthouse steps quilt. You have been busy!
WOW! You certainly have been busy. Love both versions of the block you made. The courthouse steps is totally amazing! Beautiful work.
What an extremely productive week!
Such beautiful finishes to each of your projects!
Using the 2nd block as a center medallion for a future quilt sounds wonderful.
The Courthouse steps looks like very tedious work - but SO worth it!
