A Beautiful Brunch

What a wonderful way to spend a morning, sunlight, special friends, and sumptuous food.  A few days ago I got the brainy idea to have a little chit-chat meal with some friends while my Mom is visiting from Ontario.  I often talk to her on the phone about people in my life, so it's nice for her to put a name to a face.

We brought out the fancy china, my matching green depression glass accessories, delicious condiments, and of course tea.  We enjoyed a fruit salad of grapes, blueberries, and strawberries - one of my favourite combinations.

My Mom, many years an expert baker, made fresh, sweet scones.  They fit perfectly on the sandwich tray that goes with my china.  For the scones we enjoyed butter, strawberry jam, and apple rhubarb jelly.

And if the tea, fruit salad, and scones were not enough, we also made mini pancakes!  They were delicious drizzled with real Canadian maple syrup, fruit salad, and whipped cream.

Too bad we can't spend one morning every week like this!  The conversation continued long after the delicacies had disappeared and the tea had cooled.  And excellent morning to plan for and to remember.
