I have been way out of whack these days. I have even lost focus on my 30 Minutes of Bliss! I'm not sure where my head is, but it's must be elsewhere since nothing here seems to be keeping it engaged! So, with this short-circuit going on I decided to overhaul and purge my quilting room. If I can't get my head around working in it, might as well work on it!
Look at those pretty drawers all organized and out of the way!
I can see the carpet and everything on the bottom shelves!
It was definitely in need of a clean-out. It seems that my room is the dumping ground for anything and everything that has no home anywhere else in the house, but is still important. There were bags of this and boxes of that. A stack of something-or-other and a pile of projects. I found pieces of my daughters toys and clothing, old postcards, long lost patterns, and even Christmas things! Seriously now! What is all of that doing in my room!?
A lovely view from my ironing board, I can see the mountains on a clear day!
Out it all went. Three bags of garbage and a whole bunch of things to sell. Mr. Confessions built the bookcase he bought me at Ikea a few weeks ago and I made the boxes for storage. I sorted out and folded fabric yardage and fat quarters, re-arranged shelving and books, purged magazines, and had a grand time planning the look of my "new room".
It took a full week to get everything out, in, re-arranged, and re-shelved. I even cleaned out the closet and purged 4 shelves worth of "stuff". I lined up the books, quilting related and all the other ones too and gave them some company - my girlie garden gnome makes me smile in the long winter months.
Then, I re-claimed my antique window bench. I love it! It was in my daughter's room from the time she was born and has housed various different things through the stages of her life. However, when it started to be used for toys and tea-time, I figured it was time to move it out. It fits perfectly in the corner with my antique doll bed on it. Now to figure out how to make a mattress for the bed and get up the courage to make one of the Gail Wilson kits I have waiting to be completed (or find someone to gift me one!!).
And then, there is the wall of fabric. Oh it is a sight to behold, a beautiful inspiring sight. I sometimes can be caught standing in the middle of my room (on the actual carpet) just staring at it. I do confess though, it is sometimes overwhelming since I can see everything that needs to be used up, but I quickly kick myself and remember it's a wall of inspiration, not guilt!
Still no snow, but it is in the forecast again to fall before the weekend. We'll see if it actually happens. I am crossing my fingers that it won't since the framing crew will be out at the cabin this Thursday to get things started. Exciting!

Wow - love your studio - looks really neat (comments like that were left after I put everything in to my new studio!) Must remember to post a photo a few months down the track when it's in full use. Haven't caught up with all your postings (you've been at this a lot longer than me) but I love the snow pictures - something we don't get here in Brisbane - will keep in touch through blogs & Postcrossing - glad to have 'met' you
Wow, I bet that feels really good! Nice job! And I love that your wall of fabric is a wall of inspiration, not a wall of guilt! Keep that in mind!!
Love it, you have done well.
The dolls bed is wonderful, must try and find one for myself.

You did such an awesome job re-organizing your sewing room!
I'll bet the new transformation will soon have you motivated & inspired to quilt again.
What a lovely space you have to work in! And isn't purging good for one's spirit? I've done quite a bit of getting rid of, and it's a refreshing feeling. You've done quite well and should give yourself a pat on the back. No guilt, please. That's too easy to put upon ourselves. Thanks for sharing pictures. Enjoy!
Heather, I love your studio. It looks so neat. My room is the catchall for the house too (why is that?) I have been going through things to sell at a quilters yard sale in June. Have three boxes already. Now where do I put the boxes until June 3? Seriously your room is an inspiration. Barb
