What a fine day to celebrate a royal wedding in high fashion! However, I'm not there, my invitation must have gotten lost in the mail... So I'll post about this past Wednesday evening's Jo's Little Women Club at Traditional Pastimes in Calgary.
So many wonderful creations and lots of inspiration, especially since blug is held in the middle of the shop after hours. We get to see everyone's progress, but also all the displays, fabrics, and warmth of colours around us.
Here is a sampling of everyone's courthouse steps and you can see a tiny smidgen of the sample that Heather, our hostess, made to keep us going each month in the background. To complete the quilt top in the timeframe the club is running, we have to make 16 blocks each month. Mine is in the middle.
Aside from the Jo Club quilt we are making each month, and the courthouse steps blocks, there are a couple of other options to keep our fingers (and machines) busy. This medallion is one of them and the Belle's Crossing quilt from Jo's book Coming Home is another. The medallion is Hostess Heather's creation. Heather bases each border of the quilt on the current month's Jo Club quilt. We started with Lizzie's Quilt - the center, then Berry Bliss - the stars round, and then this month our homework is HST Challenge - the triangles round. Heather is kind enough to give us a preview of the next month's round, so we know what we're in for.
And of course, how can I not mention the royal wedding, the event of the day (month, a lifetime, whatever). Many blessings to the newly wedded couple! What a lovely ceremony it was, and I understand the lace on Kate's dress was all handmade! Wow!
I love Kate's earrings! I doubt I will ever be fortunate enough to own anything as elegant and expensive, but a girl can dream! They're gorgeous!
