Wanted!

Who knew it would be so difficult to find a book about applique.  I had heard about this particular book and did a little Google search on it, however, to my surprise it highly unatainable!

The book, The Baltimore Applique Tradition by Nancy E. Davis with the Maryland Historical Society, is a little bit different than your average quilt book, or applique book, or pattern and idea book.  It was published in a joint effort with a Japanese quilting organization to bring the history and gallery of photos of Baltimore Album Quilts into the light for North Americans, but also the intricately talented Japanese applique quilters.  Written in both Japanese characters and English print, the pictures, history, and descriptions are very inspiring.

So, how exactly is a gal to obtain a copy of this illustrious book?  Quite simply, she doesn't.  Well, that is she doesn't unless she as and extra $200+ to toss around.  And since I don't, I'll have to dream about owning the book, or maybe touching someone else's copy sometime!

I know there are several other lovely and informative Baltimore Applique Album books, but I want this one!  Doh!

Good luck on your search for the book - maybe a bargain will come your way when you least expect it.

Geesh, Heather, I know what you mean about the price of this book. It listed in 1999 for $30 something. I recently bought a book on the history of a local county's quilts here in Maryland/PA. And I got it just in time (the local historical society was selling them). It's now out of print, and once that happens, it's tough to locate a copy. With your book though, I thought I'd have some kind of pull in the universe ... Having the name Nancy, a son named Davis and living near Baltimore.(weird huh?) I'll keep my eyes peeled!
