Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

It was  an exciting afternoon and a delicious evening!  We ended up with 18 people + 4 babies for dinner.  As you can imagine, that's quite the housefull!

I love Thanksgiving and this time of year in general.  The leaves rustling on pathways we bustle along, and the warm fall air reminding us that, although winter is on it's way, in turn summer will bring this same warm breeze to grace our faces once more.  And, the biggest and best part of Thanksgiving, turkey dinner!

However, turkey dinner is not a common meal during any holiday at our house.  So sad.  Why you ask?  Mr. Confessions is deathly allergic to bird meat.  Not eggs.  Not feathers.  Just the bird itself.  It's the same reaction that many have to peanuts.  Very severe!  So, we eat a lot of cow and a smattering now and then of pork, fish, or lamb.

Not only no turkey, no chicken, duck, pheasant, quail, ostrich, emu, or any other feathered beast.  So how did we get turkey at our meal this year (since he can't even smell it cooking without having a reaction)?  Our good friends made it for us and brought it just before meal time.  Wonderful!  A huge 21-pounder!

I set the table the night before knowing that during the general hub-ub of cooking and guests arriving there would be no time.  I think I used every plate and piece of cutlery we have in the house.  As well as every serving bowl, serving ladle or spoon, and almost every pot!

This year both MissV and I each made something fall-related for our Thanksgiving table.  I got the paper bag idea from a craft that was hosted at our local mom's group - Mother's Of Pre-schoolers.  They supplied the bags and ribbons and we got to pick a couple of stuffing items (popcorn and pinecones), then I put it all together afterwards and added the apples for the 3rd bag.  A lovely pieces for a fall table.

And MissV even got to have her share of fun with a fall craft in the child care room at the same MOPS group meeting.  They had a selection of flowers, leaves, and other fake fall greenery for the toddlers to put into their own piece of green floral foam in a clay pot.  It was lovely and we added it to our table too.

When it was all said and done, 18+4 were all happy, full, and glad to have the turkey-triptephan set in.  We gathered into the living room, watched the hockey game, and enjoyed each other's company.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Hopefully your day was filled with family, a remembrance of blessings, and fun.  May it be a special event to remember for many more Thanksgivings!
