No Time Like the Present!

To skip to One Flower Wednesday for September 1st

As mentioned in my previous post, it's time to move some furniture and get my "sewing room" worthy of the title Studio.  So, after lunch today I turned on the tunes, trapped the toddler in her room, and tested my strength moving bookcases without toppling them.  I started this process earlier in the year when the original room take-over occurred, and have been quite happy in there since.  However, it wasn't quite right, and I knew things would soon be on the move again.

I took everything off the floor and out of the way of the path the bookcases  would take as I did my best to 'lift' them across the room while not tipping too much in order to avoid taking out the ceiling light or making dents anywhere.

Then, I paused to grab a drink, so I took a few pics of the half-way point.  Doesn't it always look horrible an hour or so into the project?  I looked around and started to wonder what on earth I had begun, sort of like when I re-did the master bedroom while Mr. Confessions was away for a week!  However, MissV was playing quietly and enjoying her room, so I kept plugging away at mine.

And now...  Voila!  One half the room is completely finished!  Yee-haw!  I knew it must be coming close to the time I should finish because there was a constant, "Is it done yet?" from a small voice in the next room.  I think it's going to work much better for me and I love that everything set up this way makes the room look so much bigger!

Hooray!  Everything is lined up, prettied up, stacked up, and now I'm ready to giddy up and get going on some projects that have long been calling my name.  Here is one last pic of some things I am desperate to use, but have still found no extra time to get to them (do you have any I can borrow?).  The thread is for a stitchery I'd like to design, the small box is a set of cards that I should really mail to some deserving quilty friends, and the folded fabric is a complete set of Moda's Astor Manor by 3 Sisters (that one in particular is calling my name!).

It seem that although the season of autumn is fast approaching I am suddenly in the mood for spring cleaning!  Maybe this means that it is going to be a particularly harsh winter and I need a good place to hide away and keep warm!  Either way, I am already enjoying the new transformation of my soon to be Studio!

I love how your black boxes reflect the light!
Lovely stash, and Heather: I think Studio is an appropriate name already!
Congratulations on making a dream come true!

Looks Awesome! You still need an antique bookshelf from your mum under the window with a little grey cat on it laying on completed quilts. LOL!

It's really looking fabulous, Heather. And there's nothing like a good reorganization to get yourself motivated. You'll be sewing like a fiend in no time.

Looks really great. I can't believe you moved those shelves by yourself.
