Stash Storage

Recently Mr. Confessions was kind enough to let me take over our 'guest bedroom' as my quilting and stitchy room.  I have endeavoured to call it my Studio, but these days I am feeling much less creative than that word seems to deserve.  MissV has since dubbed it, the Sewing Room.  I've been sticking with that for now.

However, along with this viral infestation of fabric and quilting supplies galore upon the spare room, came a very fun trip to IKEA where I was sure to bring home all the required supplies to make things mostly organized.  Don't you just love Billy Bookcases?  Upon learning from a very good quilting friend, who also uses the same bookcases, that they have the shelves that hold the most weight out of all the bookcases on the market today, I was sold.  We came home with four of them, their extension toppers, and a plethora of matching multi-sized black boxes to house all my quilting and stitching dreams.

But, when all was said and done, a lot of $$$ was spent to make it livable for me.  Now, not as much as this creative space that I can only dream of.  The picture below is only a excerpt, click the link to see the complete tour on Christine's blog.

Recently I found this great website about incorporating the current "Go Green" theme into storing your stash.  Kaaren has a great idea at her blog to make your creative space work for you while keeping the trash bag emptier for a greener planet!  This pic (below) is the result of her re-organization.  Looks super if you ask me!  And you can even see what each container holds...  But what are those containers exactly.....  ??

What are you stash storage dreams?  We can't all have Christine's room, and I think mine could still use a little tweaking, so what about you?

Happy fabric fondling, project planning, and storage sorting!

Heather, i am so excited for YOU!
Can't wait to see the before and after pix.
That studio is indeed a dream, but I think it would somehow stiffle me... it's too perfect! LOL
What my sewing room (or quilt room) as it is also known needs some serious tidying up... Thanks for the links, and good luck!

WOW - I heard of using those for fabric but I just could not put my head around actually doing in... I guess I can maybe look in to this as I do have to do some reorganizing of my quilt/scrap/spareroom so that maybe you can walk in it.

It must be catching. I also started a reorganizaion of my sewing room. Spring cleaning in the fall! I used shoe boxes per Stash Manicures suggestion to organize my fat quarters. Now I need to go buy more shoes for the rest!
