I have recently decided to take over my spare room. It was a junk heap with a spare bed in it that got used maybe 4 times a year for company. Day after day I would look at it longingly thinking, "What a waste of space!".
Well, now it is my space. Last week I took everything out and tossed it about the upstairs portion of our house, painted, bought shelving and other useful organizational items and have been tackling the disaster I created ever since! There is something to be said for one's own space. I am now looking forward to finishing it and to finding the most saught after "comfy chair" to put in the empty corner.
I bought Benjamin Moore "Affinity" paint in Mossy Oak - LOVED using it. It dries so fast and coats very well. During the pre-paint setup (taping, etc) I was texting with my good friend Jenn (Blog: Olde Town Quiltery) when I mentioned that I was about to paint. She asked what colour it was and I sent her a pic from my phone - lo and behold she asks me, "Is that Mossy Oak?" "Why YES!!" I exclaimed. "How did you know?" It turns out that Jenn had used that exact colour on the main floor of her last house. Isn't amazing the coincidences we come across in daily life?
My hubby then took me to IKEA on a shelving shopping spree. I managed to convince him of several Billy Bookcases in the new black-brown finish. He was a good man and built them all for me so that all I had to do was put the shelves in and get started. I also bought storage boxes in black with silver accents, a lamp, some curtains, and decorative pillows for whenever the aforementioned elusive chair arrives. One day soon I might actually get my sewing maching set up and finish a couple of projects that have been glaring at me from the mess in the hall landing!
Once things have settled in a little more, I'll post some pictures. For right now though, much too messy to display my wares to the world!
