Some of you might know the feeling I get when I see all the journals lined up on shelves at the bookstore waiting for someone to grace their pages with pen and ink. Or maybe a few of you know how inspiring it is to go to the specialty paper shop and look at all the stationary, postcards, letter-writing paraphernalia, and pens galore. And I'll bet there are at least a couple of you who go to Staples to wander around "be with" office supplies. Now, don't get me started about the scrapbook store! Are you a stationary-a-holic too?
The trouble is, my love of papers and pens has spilled over into fabric and thread, and now I am doubly-doomed when it comes to keeping the coins in my wallet at any sort of textile or office shop. To make matters worse, there's also that other bug I have.... The travel bug. And this week, my life was blessed with a little mingling of passions in my mailbox.
I joined Postcrossing (free, global postcard club to connect people through their mailboxes) last year and I have to say am quite enjoying it. However, this past week was extra special because the postcard I got from a lovely lady in Holland absolutely made my day! Paper, mail, correspondence, quilting, flower and gardening, applique, stationary, (and all those other words) all came together with this single postcard! I just had to share it! Can't you see it is as a gorgeous applique of sorts? I adore it and am hoping to make it into it's own quilt block one day! How inspiring! I love mail! I adore quilting! And isn't stationary the icing on the cake!?
I can just see Carrie from "A Passion For Applique" whipping this up in a heartbeat! Her stitching is gorgeous and I'm sure a project like this would be fabulous with her keen eye for all things applique! Any other takers?

I feel like I'm in a candy store or it's Christmas when I'm in an office supply store..So many goodies with all sorts of possibilities...it ranks second to quilt stores....
Your Postcard is beautiful it would make a great quilt block. Today I had trouble in choosing what fat quarters to let go. I am swaping in the Itinial Heart Swap, and I added some FQ. HAPPY QUILTING jinnie
You're right! This postcard graphic would make a beautiful applique centre for a quilt!
My husband was reading your post over my shoulder (wish he wouldn't do that!) & he cannot understand our passions - patchwork (he does understand that a little) postcards, mailart, stationary - the feel of a new book that no one has written in EVER! He's a golfer - need I say more! Lovely card!
I had to come see what you were talking about when you replied to one of my comments.
I am all the time seeing "inspiration" around me that would make beautiful applique. I wish there were more hours in the day. lol The card would make a perfect center of a medallion quilt.
