A USPS Box In The Mail...

... Can only mean one thing!  My items from the Fat Quarter Shop have arrived!  Hooray!  After all the wonderful feedback I got regarding my doll bed dismay, I started to put together an idea of what to do to solve the mattress problem.  There were so many fabulous ideas and suggestions it ended up being a rather simple task in the end.

I am gleaning a little bit from everyone I think.  I will use ticking for the fabric.  I couldn't find any until a friend suggested French General by Moda.  Of course! (insert head-smack here)  They do have a great selection of lovely ticking-type fabrics.  Hence the box arriving in the mail!

I chose to be a little matchy-matchy just for the fun of it.  I will use one of our very old should-have-been-thrown-away-ages-ago feather pillows for stuffing and then tie the mattress in the old-fashioned way.  I bought a nice ticking-like fabric that has deep colours like the bed so that even if there is no quilt on it, it will look nice as is.

Then, I added a French General charm pack to my shopping cart and a spool of matching ribbon.  Might as well go big or go home!  It'll be sort of fun to have a couple of little matching quilts that are all matchy-matchy with the rest of the bed and accessories.  *grin*  (can you tell I'm getting a little giddy telling you about all this wonderful stuff!?)

Soooooo many projects I want to do, soooo little time!  I think I may have to put aside some of the obligatory Jo Club projects (which are not really an obligation, but fun to have for the next month's show-and-tell), so I can work on some of the things I want to do for myself instead.  Sorry Jo - I've got a stack of UFOs that need doing and this little bed project is one of them!

Happy catching up!
Heather

Very nice - I've been wanting to order from the Fat Quarter Shop but I'm worried once I start I won't be able to stop!

Can't wait to see the mini quilt when you are all done.
