Definitely Interesting Weather

I was sitting watching some TV the other night, when I happened to look out over my shoulder towards the windows into the backyard.  My eyes froze.  I jumped up and dashed over to the large panes for a better view.  Could it be?

Having taken geography at university, now and then something flashes back to memory in a strobe light manner with bits and pieces of brilliant understanding.  This time I recalled images of cloud formations and talk of tornadoes.  Not good!  I darted for the camera and headed outside.

I couldn't unlock the back door fast enough!  That's the best place to be if there's a tornado, right?  Outside with your camera?  Right?  >> Idiot I know, you don't have to tell me. <<  As I made the typical weather fanatic noises - ooooo, aaaaahh, whoooa - It began to rain, and then hail, and become exceedingly windy.  Time to head back to the house.

But I just couldn't go inside, not yet.  What if the big event actually happened and I missed it!?  So I stood up against the house under the eaves with one foot in the door leaning out to snap a picture here and there.

And then, just as quickly has it had arrived, the storm blew over and was gone to leave us with blue skies and a lovely sunset.  Strange weather indeed!  Welcome to Alberta!

I have memories of Calgary like that. When we lived there I loved that the sky was so big you could see the weather coming. Great pictures!

Take care!

Sounds just as well it didn't stop at your neighbourhood and decide to party!!!! Obviously it had somewhere else to go! whew!!! I hate to see storm clouds like that!!!! Great photos though Heather!!!! Here at the moment it can't decide whether to rain or shine, it's kinda miserable and cold!!! The only upside is it's great sewing weather!!!

Those pictures are amazing! My daughter lives in tornado alley now, they all go outside and watch! In fact her father in law chases tornadoes for a job!

So much catastrophic weather these days. The flooding in Western Iowa is saddening. But you've captured some gorgeous pictures. Are they really black and white, or is that the "color"? They're picture frame worthy, in either case.
