Yes, I'm here... I think. Several of you have asked/emailed about where I have been with my blog posts. The truth is, just plain busy. Summer is finally here and so has the "while-the-weather's-good" schedule.
The view one eve in early summer over our back fence.
I have missed 2 One Flower Wednesdays, which is crazy because I actually have the flowers made! It was only a matter of taking a couple of pictures and making the post. I have recently figured out that you can "post date post". Sort the same idea as a cheque, you write it now for deposit later. I might have to figure out all the Wednesdays for the next while, make a whole bunch of flowers, post-date-post, and then all I have to do is "sign in" over at the OFW home page. I think that's cheating though. Oh well, I guess I will actually have to sit down and take the time to make one next Wednesday. *grin*
My Mom and I are regular chat-ers and in today's conversation we were counting the sleeps until our next visit. She will be arriving here at the beginning of August for 2 weeks. Every year for the past few years we have made our way down to Montana, USA for the Eureka Quilt Show. It's a delightful drive through divine landscapes, sweeping foothills dotted with various agricultural activities, and jagged Rocky Mountain peaks to guide our way in the background. The film "Open Range" was filmed in the same area.
The show has grown every year and I believe there were just over 300 entries last year. The show happens on the first Saturday of August every year. The committee works hard to decorate the town with quilts of all shapes, sizes, skill levels, and fabrics.
We also make a point of doing some shopping while we are in the USA. How can we not! The prices are fabulous (especially for fabrics), and they always seem to have things we have never seen before - quilt related or not! Last year I bought a Rowenta iron for $65 US. The same iron is $189.99 here... The same iron!! Seriously, how can a person NOT shop! To bad the duty free cap for such a short trip is only $400 CDN. Actually, come to think of it, maybe that's a good thing!
So, only 13 more sleeps until Mom arrives, and 14 more sleeps until our annual Montana road trip. Time to drown myself in quilting paraphernalia - how delightful!
Oh, and as a last note, I convinced my Mom to get a tatto while she's here... I'm sure there'll be more on this later!

Looks like you have a fun plan coming up soon! I didn't know about the deal of the shopping in the U.S.. Your list must be getting pretty long by now? LOL The quilt show looks really nice, too. Enjoy your day with your mom!!
I have enjoyed reading all these posts. Cool quilt show! Your floral photos are fabulous. That sting looked pretty bad. I had one sting me on the neck once. I wasn't even bothering it. Thanks for coming by my blog.
