Day one of my great project has begun. I should start off by saying that my hubby thinks I am doing a tidy-up/de-clutter and thorough cleaning, what he doesn't realize that this also will include new paint, a few new decor items, and a new furniture arrangement. How shocked will he be when he opens the bedroom door?! Anyone want to take bets on what his first words will be? I can take a wild guess that's not going to be, "Wow honey! I absolutely love it! Great work!" *grin*
I find that with most giant undertakings like this one, it always looks way worse before it looks better. At least today I had my helper directing me as to which pile was the best for folded clothes.
My bedroom threw-up onto the landing outside the door. Hopefully this will be picked up in no time though since it's all blankets to be folded, bedding to put away, and laundry to deal with.
Then there's the rest of the "stuff". Yes, almost all those clothes on the bed belong to Mr. Confessions. I own the white skirt on the closest corner and the pile of folded clothes to the right behind it.
This trunk is one that my Dad made me many years ago. I love it in our room and will likely use it for storing extra blankets and pillows since we don't have a linen closet. I think the box on the left has yet to be unpacked from when we moved into the house FIVE years ago (oops!).
The rest of the room is in a state of general disorder. A basket of belongings going into Little Miss's room, a basket for donations, a basket of garbage, a basket of laundry, and then all the things that I haven't gotten to yet.
On the brighter side, I managed to make it to a couple of shops today in the next town including Benjamin Moore for paint and Home Sense for some accessories.
The green, tan, and the blue are from Pottery Barn's Summer 2010 paint line through Benjamin Moore. I picked up the swatches because they are the colours in the duvet cover I bought last week. It was so great to be able to go into the paint shop and they already had the colours that matched what I owned... I didn't need to drag small pieces of half my decor around with me to match everything up!
The chocolate brown will be the paint that goes on the walls (much darker in the pics than in life). Shocking, I know! It will be heavenly when it's done though. I picked up the pillow in the background at Home Sense and it matches perfectly with the colours from Pottery Barn - and a fraction of the price tag too!
I also found this fabulous mirror in the exact same blue and a pair of huge overstuffed, quilted, white pillows for the bed. They will be nice with the blue and brown one (above) and the duvet.
Up close the pillow almost looks like something I might have whipped up... No whipping here (unless it's my behind into action to get this done!)
And one last little item of decor, this sweet little painted tin picture. I have the perfect spot for it, and it will look superb on the dark brown walls. It too already has all the accent colours in it.
Until the next installment I'll be buried knee deep in Baskets O' Stuff. Check back soon!

I am following your attack with much interest :)
It must be an interesting adventure, I think you've got it all planned out!
Oh how pretty!!! I can picture this!, can't wait to SEEEEEE! :)
Oh my shattered nerves-no wonder Mr. Confessions made you a deal; there was no room left for him in there. The new colours are lovely BUT don't lose interest in the project now that you have started.
