I love sleeping in on a Saturday morning! It doesn't happen very often with a three-year-old about, but once-in-a-while something in her little mind doesn't turn on at 7:30am, and the praises ring out! Sleep praises that is - you know, slow deep breathing, still mind and body, the occassional snore to let folks know you're serious about your sleep, and now and then a foot kicks the covers off down in the corner just to see if it's warm enough to actually wake up yet. >>sigh<< I'm snoozey just thinking about it!
We decided that after our rendez-vous with such strange numbers on the clock this morning (9:30am - they actually appear on the bedroom clock too, and here I thought it was just the stove and microwave!), we would lounge about the house until the wind died down and head out to our property. Yes, we own a second property. It's been 7 months since we bought it, and it's not anything extra special, but it still seems so strange to say it! At some point, some day, we will build a cabin, but for now we will continue to make the plans for it, dream some more, and visit whenever we please.
Today was a special trip, we had to size thigns up and determine which of the half-dead trees could be pushed over and which ones needed the chainsaw. Me moved stuff around, assessed what needed to be painted, dropped off some lumber, and were about to continue on our merry way home... When... My Mr. pointed out a quaint little nest in the rafters of the (former owners) porch structure.
We wanted to see what sort of bird it was, so I carefull climbed up, not daring to touch anything or even breathe in it's direction, lifted the camera high above and... Click!
Four lovely eggs! Another wonderful thing to experience on a fine spring Saturday!
All the way home we were trying to decide what sort of name to give our newly acquired retreat spot. There was a lot of "vito-ing" going on and still no results. It's fully treed with tall spruce, and a few birch here and there, it backs onto a treed area, is on a quiet side street in the recreation area, shadey, quiet, deer, squirrels, birds, and the lovely shushing the breeze makes in old trees. Our street is called Cottonwood Close and we are near a bend... Anyone have any suggestions? So far I have: Robin's Rest Cottage and Waldorf Cottage (our last name is Wald).
While you're thinking, I'm going to go and watch the season finale of Lost.

How about Wald's Rest, that way it may actually happen.
So sweet! I can't believe the color of the eggs, they are so beautiful! XO
