Around here the weather is rather fickle. I understand that this is becoming a more common phenomenon across the country, but here, having all 4 seasons in one day is certainly not unheard of. Usually around this time we get our 1-3 days of "real" spring and then - BOOM - it's summer. Up until this so-called spring we get every kind of weather you can think of... In fact earlier this week we had a full-on blizzard!
Well, this afternoon, whether spring has sprung or not, we took a family trip to one of the local greenhouses. It's my favourite activity on Mother's Day weekend! I'm not sure how fortunate I will be when it comes to being able to actually plant our purchases without freezing rain, frost, snow, crippling wind, or any other type of craziness Mother Nature often throws our way... I'll keep my fingers crossed for the best!
Today we purchased:
Begonia & impatience (for our small shadey area)
4 types of tomatoes, parsley, and seeds for beets
3 beautifully coloured clay pots
Mockorange & spirea bushes
3 types of hardy rose (love roses)
Dusty millar
Geraniums
Potato starters
Lily bulbs
Dhalia tubors
What a list! My handsome Mr. was just excited as I was and we are likely going to start ripping things up in the gardens and yard tomorrow - weather permitting of course!
Happy Mother's Day!

I'm lovin' the garden centre scenerio. Was going to head that way myself but my Mr. has my car. His died overnight. Hopefully it is just the battery. Our weather in Ontary-ary-ario as wee Miss V loves to sing (with some help from Grams)has been awesome. Time to scrub the balcony, hang planters with LOTS of geraniums, and stoke up the barbe. Perhaps some home made potato salad. Yum yum. Happy Mother's Day right back at you
