Patterns, Notions, & Charms

Recently I decided to get my daughter an "American Girl" doll.  While I was out at one of our LQS's I happened to find a sweet dress pattern that came in Miss V's size and it was accompanied by a pattern for a doll in the same style.  Well, that sparked a little fire of interest and I also hunted down 2 other patterns - one of shoes for the family (easily shrinkable for a doll), and one of a sweet little nighty and tank/short set.  I might have a little more trouble making the night-wear in a doll size, but I can give it a shot.

I also wanted to make a quick comment about my new favourite notion.  It might have been around forever, but it is new to me, and SO useful!  It is this fabulous 120" dress-maker's tape measure (inches on one side and centimeters on the other).  The tape measure comes in a sweet little tin.  I bought it online from Karen Kay Buckley's website...  She also has the most amazing applique patterns, as well as some handy heat-safe plastic templates for making the perfect circles!

And, since this is mail month, one last item arrived.  But this time I bought it, it wasn't gifted to me.  I was so thrilled to stumble upon a website for a neat little quilt shop in the USA selling all sorts of hard to find Civil War items.  Unfortunately, the customer service was rather terrible (due to circumstances beyond her control apparently), mail delivery very slow, and email correspondence even slower.  Normally, I would just have cancelled everything and moved on...  However, they had something that I have been looking for - forever.  Vicksburg charm packs.  I was thrilled!  This line was sold out everywhere so fast, and at the time I didn't have the $$ to buy anything but a couple fat quarters here and there.  And now...

I am not sure what I will do with them yet, but I have an idea or two.

Hopefully I will get some more quilting in, or at minimum some more hexagons finished, by the time Sunday rolls around a new week begins.  Cheers all!
