How many quilters out there have favourite fabric designers? I know I certainly do! I am definitely a Civil War reproduction fabric-a-holic! I use to belong to Jo's Little Women Club at my LQS and thus have a "stash" of just Jo, however, my quilting room has shelves with other lovely designers too. Both Nancy Gere and Judie Rothermel are currently keeping the dust away from said shelves and I enjoy fondling and petting their wonderful designs at pretty much any given time. Now come on, I can't be the only one who sits and stares at the loveliness that is her own fabric!
Aside from taking part (at one time) in Jo's Little Women, I also have aspirations to make my own Dear Jane, Civil War Diaries Quilt, and Farmer's Wife. Is this all jibber-jabber to you? I emplore you to check them out! A block at a time, a bit here and there, a get-together with tea and your needle & thread... You can do it!
Aside from the picture of my "Country Lanes" (from Jo Morton's Remembrances book) below, here are a couple of others:
Broken Dishes from Jo's Little Women Club. This is such a cute pattern. I thought that since there are very few seams I would learn hand quilting on it. I'm not doing too badly, but it's STILL not finished, I better add it to my UFO list!
This one is one of my favourites! It is also a quilt from Jo's Little Women, but I think the only thing that is the same as hers on this one is the border fabric. It was supposed to be made as a group of 3 (each with different shapes and sizes), however I only made this one. And yes, it's 12"! I just love it! Obviously it's not finished either, gotta get it quilted! Another one for the UFO list!
I worked on this one for an entire day and managed to get the whole top done - wow! So many tiny pieces and bias edges. Thankfully in the end I only had to re-do one seam so it was to my liking. Don't the cutting mat and striped plastic table cloth set this off so nicely (gag!).
How about you? Any favourite designers? I know Moda's Bake Shop puts out some fabulous pre-cuts of many wonderful designers (Fig Tree, 3 Sisters, etc). Which reminds me, I think I have a couple of quilts to add to my to-do list with some of their fabrics as well!
