My Turkish Rug

Finally I had a chance to take some pictures of one of my favourite new belongings.  Many of you have been following along with my trip to Montana in August.  I keep taunting you with reports of items I bought, but have yet to actually show them off.  Well, here is the biggest of the bunch, even though it's small!

Every year when we go to Montana for the Eureka Quilt Show we are sure to stop at Camas Creek Yarns.  You may remember my post about this shop earlier in the season with all my ooo-in and awe-ing about the colours, selection, and wonderful creativity that can be found there.

While coveting just about every ball of yarn in the place, I would do the same for the Turkish rugs hanging on their walls.  They were on sale this year, and I could hold back no longer.  So the last small rug (the only one I could afford-ish) is now mine.  And I love it!

It came with a certificate of authenticity (since apparently they have to or it's a big no-no or a fake), an identification number, a special label that matches the certificate, and has all the makings of a great heirloom piece.

I found the perfect spot for it too.  I didn't want it on the floor in case the dog had an accident on it or Little Miss decided that was the best place to spill some grape juice.  And I didn't want it on the wall since the fringes hang funny and the design of this one makes it for the floor (it's not directional).  So I put it on the piano bench.  It's itchy because it's wool, so it keeps little fingers from playing there when they are not allowed to, as well as protecting the under side of the piano from being scraped up by the edge of the bench.

We spend a lot of time in our living room, so I get to enjoy it every day.
