A Darn Good Laugh

Every once in a while an event in our daily gives us a good, full throttle, belly aching, tear jerking, laugh.  I know that it doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it's usually quite memorable.  Well, I recently had one of these experiences thanks to my darling Mr. Confessions.  A dear man, of course, but maybe not so quick on quilting terminology.

So, there was a conversation in the kitchen about cleaning out the van.  Usually I am the one to drive the van and Mr. Confessions uses it only occasionally.  However, when he does, he likes it to be tidy and ready for use - as in enough gas for him, no garbage or food wrappers, no old mail, no clothing or jackets on the seats...  you get the idea.  He had recently driven the van to take Little Miss out and was looking in the center console for something (likely a napkin or tissue).  He exclaims to me while doing his thing in the kitchen, "... And what's with the quilting porn in the van!!??"

"The WHAT!?" I yelled in surprise.

"You, heard me! You've got soft porn for quilters in the center console!"  He retorted.

"I DO NOT!  What are you talking about!?"  I was getting a little flabbergasted now.  I KNEW there was nothing of the sort in the van, or anywhere in my possession!

"Oh yes you do!  I saw it there myself!  A book about lovers and quilting!  What will they think of next?"

"Look, I don't know what you're talking about, but I don't know of any such book!"  And that was the end of the conversation.

So, a few days later, I too was looking for something in the center console...  To be fair to Mr. Confessions, it really was a mess and in need of emptying out.  What can I say, it's convenient.  The big built-in container between the two front seats.  Easy access, easy storage, and unfortunately easy dumping.

I proceeded to empty it out.  At there very bottom there was a book.  Upon retrieving it, I burst out laughing and immediately sent Mr. Confessions at text.  I'm sure the picture below will explain the situation.

The text went something like this:  "So I found the book in the console you were talking about the other day.  It's not a romance, it's a mystery.  The Lover's Knot is the name of a traditional Irish quilt design and the lady on the cover is not ready for bed, I think she's dead!"

Do you know of Clare O'Donahue's mystery series?  She has several in publication right now and all of them have a quilting theme with a special twist.  I believe there is a new publication out right now called The Devil's Puzzle.  She has an interesting bio and lots of details at her website - stop on over.

Oh Mr. Confessions, you're such a dear!  Thank you for making my life an adventure and one worth living!  And I hope the rest of you had a good laugh too!  Quilter's porn!!  Oh man - still grinning!
