Excited About Progress!

We have really been pushing to get things done before the snow flies around here - inside and outside and cabinside.  Over the Labour Day weekend we made some huge progress thanks to our friends and family all pitching in to give us a hand.

Here are a few of the windows that haven't been unloaded yet int he back of Mr. Confessions work trailer.
Our windows arrived the week before, so it was time to get them installed - pronto!  We had one crew preparing the window openings, another one working on stripping some paint off a few that we got discounted, a deck builder preparing joists and bolting things to the foundation, and a lunch crew (that was my dealio).

The first window just went in when I arrived - the small one to the right of the ladder.

A great location for a make-shift lunch al fresco lunch room!
When I arrived at the perfect timing to give everyone a break for lunch, they were just ready to put the first window in.  It was the small one in the bathroom on the front of the structure.  After eating our sliders (mini hamburgers), corn on the cob, salads, and snacks everyone cleaned up and was right back at it.

Mr. Confessions (left) and his brother holding the window in place while their Dad levels everything from the inside.

Our sister-in-law with the pressure hose for the nailer.  She was using it to hammer in the nails for the joist hangers.
The windows were in by mid-afternoon and all the deck joists were hung and ready to go shortly after that.  We couldn't finalize the deck pilings because the cement was just poured that morning.  It was easy enough to build around that small issue and finalize things on our next trip out there.

Finally!  A view from the back!  I stood about 1/3 of the way back to our rear property line to take this photo before all the work began back there.

And here is that glorious chimney!  I am SO excited for when Mr. Confessions has the rock on it from top to bottom!

I had the chance to wander around and take some great work pictures as well as some shots of the place in general.  It was nice to be able to walk around behind the building for once.  Previous to this it was either one big pile of dead tree pieces or one big pile of mud and dead tree pieces!

Just an itty-bitty fireplace for the main feature in the room...  *grin*
Our next big trip out there will probably be near the middle of the month, but we don't have a specific date yet.  On that trip the plumbing, electrical, and fireplace will be installed.  After that, once we have the outside weather paper on, it'll almost be liveable!  I wonder if I have any extra Christmas decorations...  I feel a holiday celebration coming on!

What a cute little bush-hut!!!! (I know you call them cabins LOL)! It looks wonderful, I can see it all snuggled up in the snow midwinter with smoke coming out of the chimney (just the romantic in me LOL!!!)
