Weather From The West

I am originally from a more Eastern/Central part of Canada and at the time I lived there, the weather was generally quite predictable, measurable, and other than the occasional uproar in winds/flurries/rains, very stable.  In the West, so near the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains, weather is far from predictable.  In fact, the only thing that is predictable about it, is that it's unpredictable.
Photo from NW of here taken by our neighbour who is a storm-chaser, adventureman, and professional photographer.  Visit his website for more exciting photos and to read his adventure sports blog.
You might think that this is a relatively safe assumption in any location that weather changes quickly or doesn't always seem to measure up to the weather station's announcements.  However, until you live where we live, there is likely little to compare.  Just to be sure I'm clear here, our five-day weather forecast is hardly ever correct by the time the fifth day arrives.  Thankfully, "they" can change the details on the weather websites rather quickly these days!
Another fabulous shot from Spindrift Photography.
As I've mentioned before on my blog, I am a bit of a weather lunatic - the sort that runs outside with the camera when a storm is coming.  So, that's just what we ALL did this time!  "Look Mr. Confessions!  There's a tornado!  Quick, get the camera!"  So what does Mr. Confessions do?  Like the good man he is, he goes and gets the camera!

Can you spot both funnel clouds in this picture?  Click photo to enlarge.
Now, we are not professional photographers, but you will get the general idea from Mr. Confessions quick shots off the back deck before the funnel clouds dissipated and left us free of damage and harm.  Thank goodness!  However, there was no tornado warning, or even a storm warning issued for our area.  They just appeared, gave us a thrill, and were gone as quickly as they came.

Wacky weather indeed!  Predict that weatherman!

Thanks for posting all of those great photos! I'm definitely a weather nut that lives in a very boring weather area. Spindrift has some amazing photos. How exciting to have seen TWO funnel clouds at once. Do you watch Storm Chasers?

Fabulous pictures, but just a tad bit scary!!!!! Only lived through one mini tornado here, nearly went straight down the middle of our main street, lucky our street, is off to the side, but there was a lot of damage elsewhere. One of the churches in the village was completely demolished, on the same spot as the original church which suffered the same fate in the 1920's. The third one stands hopeful LOL!!!! I was at home that day, lost power for hours, lots of tree damage, roofs damaged, houses torn up and a darn awful noise!! We were ok in my street, whew!!!
