One of my favourite things during the holidays is bringing home the tree. Our family chooses a real tree to adorn with festive decorations, and the fir type is the one we like the best. This year we managed to find a gorgeous 8' wonder with perfect shape - amazing!
And what is that strange white thing leaning against the stone of the fireplace? Ooops! I forgot to move it before taking the picture! It's a 3' length of PVC pipe for watering the tree! Crazy, idea, but it works fabulously! Then we don't have to crawl around under the tree, get all the presents wet, make a thousand needles fall to the floor (and down our shirts), or even bend much at all. The tube goes into the stand, the water is poured from a juice jug down the tube - Bob's-your-uncle - the job is done!
It's always fun to remember other fun times involving tree trimming when we open up the box of ornaments. There are a couple inparticular that I hold dear. Both were gifts from Mr. Confessions.
The first is this gorgeous Swarovski crystal snowflake. It even has it's own special box within a box to keep it safe during the other 11 months of the year! The photo is a good one, but as can be expected with just about any photo of such a glamorous piece, it doesn't do it justice.
Who can resist this darling little knitting bear? Each year there is a craft-type exhibition in the city in November and one year Mike surprised each of us with a floofy, fun, bear ornament. Each one was doing something that we each love and the artisan even put our name on them. This one is knitting - and it's real knitting too!
Have fun decorating your tree and celebrating the holidays in the way each of your families holds dear. Soon this Christmas will be a memory too, it's a good thing we have such fun ornaments to help us remember years gone by each time the ornament box is opened.

Fresh tree! It must smell soooo good all over in your house now. Isn't that so special? Lucky you!! Hi Chloe!!
Your tree is beautiful! I will probably be decorating this weekend.
A real tree! So jealous and it is a beauty! I have one Swaroski crystal ornament and it is a stunner! Your hubbie has great taste!
Your hearth and home look beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with me who - for the third year in a row - will not be decorating for Christmas because our children aren't coming home.
I'm proud of you for going the "real tree" route. My parents owned a Christmas tree farm in Missouri, so in our family, artificial trees have always been frowned upon. Have a blessed Advent.
OK, that is an absolutely smart way to water the tree! I always make a mess spilling water everywhere.
