Today I made a trip to the city to pick up my two Block-of-the-Months and while making a quick browse around the first shop (of two) I found a much saught after copy of Australian Homespun. Not only that, but there were only TWO copies left! So, that means that I get one, and one lucky viewer gets one too!
This is issue No.77 (Vol.10.10) from about last October. It is special because it features an article and pattern from Gail Wilson, a rather famous American colonial time doll maker. Recently in my life there has been much talk about this particular doll maker, and I thought it rather serendipitous that I should stumble upon this exact magazine!
The pattern inside is for the cloth doll she has designed named "Lottie". And a darling thing she is. She finishes at 10" and the pattern includes complete instructions for everything you see, even the lovely outfit she is wearing.
If painting/stitching the face all by hand is intimidating to you, you can order iron-on transfer type faces from her website (by calling or through the online cart) or use your own iron-on technique. This way you can draw it out a few times to make it just perfect before you add it to your own version of Little Lottie.
There are a number of other interesting projects featured in this issue including a very nice rendition of "bird in the air" by Karen Clarke, a sweet little cat stitchery by Lynette Anderson (a well known Australian stitcher), a nice antique looking stuffed animal rascally cat, and more!
To enter the giveaway please leave a comment (and of course feel free to read through other posts here). You are welcome to refer to this giveaway on your own blog, webring, our Yahoo group (etc). I'll ship internationally and it's open to anyone with an email addres I can reply to!
The giveaway will be open until June 30th.
Good Luck!
