Puppy Knits

Many of you already know I have a special helper who makes sure that things run smoothly each day in the household.  Maybe you have a special helper in your home too?  Chloe is our 17-month-old Yorkshire Terrier.  She is such a darling dog, but is rather tiny and catches a chill easily.

I'm always on the lookout for small pooch items that aren't too cheesey, schmoozey, or ultra chic.  This is more difficult than you'd think.  Of course there are a ton of doggy delights out there, but many are not only all of the above, but also too big.  Poor Chloe is only 4.5 lbs wet so when I found this knit projects for dogs book, I was thrilled!

I quickly searched the pages, decided on a project and bought the yarn to make it.  And which one did I choose?  A snug felted pooch pouch to keep her warm.  I figured that since we often find her sitting in the kitchen infront of the warm air vent, it was time to get some fuzzy for my furry friend.

The yarn they showed in the book wasn't readily available to me, so I had to go with something equally lovely, but a different colour and brand.  The purples are gorgeous and will felt beautifully.  The yarn was inexpensive (thankfully, since I needed 9 balls!) and perfect for the job.  The bed is knit with US15 36" circular needles using a chunky weight yarn.

Maybe Chloe will have a new snuggy for Christmas!

Chloe is precious and I am sure she keeps everyone in line. Knit her something warm from me, would you. I did knit once, a sweater too small in the body with really long arms!! I am better at piecing fabric.

Chloe is adorable! I had to show her photo to my husband. They are full of love and so fragil. I love puppies and all dogs. Thanks for posting about her.
