Yes, yes... I know I said this post would happen Saturday, alas, It didn't. However, I have good reason - I was still having fun with my 30 minutes of bliss and wanted to collect a few more before I actually did post about it. Did you manage to find any time to spend 30 minutes doing something you love this week?
I set the timer and usually stuck to the actual 30 minutes, however, when I get "doing something" with no interruptions, the timer may go off and not register at all with me. It was like this on Sunday when Mr. Confessions was kind enough to take Little Miss out for the day. It was great, I finally had some much needed time to myself in my room. Lets see what I got finished this week...
I chose the pattern and fabric for a quilt that will be a gift. This pattern is a free one by Kathleen Tracy through her online Yahoo Group, Small Quilt Talk. The pattern is a theme quilt for Valentine's day, and I know the recipient loves red - perfect choice.
I organized the shelves and drawers of the cupboard that is in my quilting room. I had books and magazines, fabric and patterns, whatnot and this-and-that everywhere, and now each has it's own place neatly put away.
This is a box stuffed full of items to send to my Mom. Mom lives at the other end of the country from us (a 3.5ish hour flight), so mail delivery is the easiest way to stay in contact when it comes to sharing things. She loves to knit socks, so the yarn will please her. The small bundles on the right side are 3.5" squares for an Eye Spy quilt project we are working on/coordinating for children at our local children's hospital. And of course fabric - "extras" from my collection to add to hers.
This set of shelves is right beside my sewing machine and gets cluttered regularly. I reorganized the fabric on the third shelf (it is all backings and Jo Morton yardage), re-arranged the containers, jars, baskets, and bins to more appropriately accommodate the space. Then, I made good use of my mini cake plate to hold up small notions that I use regularly (bobbins, pins, scissors, etc) and allow space beneath for Micron pens that need to lay flat.
These are my two baskets for scraps of Civil War reproduction fabric. They were a total disaster and contained much more than just scraps of fabric. I sorted them all out, put the miscellaneous items away, and voila - one for Jo Morton fabric (so I'm ready to go for Jo's Little Women Club #10 starting this month) and one for all other scraps of Civil War fabrics. Are you fabric savvy? Can you tell which one is which?
Who knew there was such a magazine as this?! I took 30 minutes and some tea to fall in love with it. I even saw in one picture a mini Olfa rotary cutter and cutting mat! Can you believe it? The picture on the front of the magazine is a garden shed, this is what intrigued me. I saw the name of the mag and couldn't figure out what someone's garden shed had to do with dollhouses and miniatures. Well, I quickly discovered the shed wasn't real, but a miniature someone created - unreal! It sure fooled me!
For my last 30 minutes, right before I rushed to eat some dinner, I decided on and cut the fabric for a signature swap I am involved with this winter. Now maybe in another 30 minute session this week I can sew them all together and a second session will have them all signed.
Have a great week and hopefully you discover your own 30 minutes of bliss here and there!
Heather

I am working on my siggy blocks, too. It sounds like you had a wonderful day of sewing and organizing!
How organized you are! Sometimes I set the timer. Love the fabric you have selected for your little quilt.
How wonderfully organised you are, if only my sewing room looked half as well laid out LOL. Love your fabrics for the Valentine's quilt! 30 mins goes so quick when you're sewing, I could never set a timer it would make me too anxious LOL and I'd probably get nothing done LOL!!!
Heather -- you have been wonderfully proficient with your "30" minutes. I need to follow your lead and organize and put things away. Not going to happen real soon knowing me!
I need to start on my siggie blocks too. Bought fabric. Moved it into the studio but nothing more.
I am so glad you are having with with the 30 minutes. You got a lot done and even time to relax in 30 minutes.
