Things Around Here

Recently life around our household has been a little crazy.  I've been sick, a lot, which means Mr. Confessions has to pick up extra slack around the house and my to-do list has been growing.  If it's not some intestinal malfunction, it's a cold, or virus, or whatever else decides to make it's way over to me.  I was reading a Facebook comment yesterday posted by a friend which mentioned how late the laundry and dusting fairy had been in arriving at her house - apparently it's a regional thing, since she's late here too!

With that being said, the creative bug has not been out of hibernation for some time, and I'm starting to get a little stir crazy.  During a visit to the doctor yesterday he noticed the zipper-pull I have on my jacket that reads, "Crochet Addict" and it gave him a chuckle.  Sadly, the addiction has fallen by the wayside these past several weeks as I manage the days in "Survival Mode", I don't have much energy left for crochet, or anything else of the crafty sort.  My re-usable shopping bag stuffed with my crochet blanket sits patiently waiting beside the couch.

I've tried to stay positive and healthy, eating oatmeal and other natural whole foods for breakfast, making sure dinner contains all the components of the food guide, and trying to eat that special apple-a-day they say will keep the doctor away, but somehow Starbucks still seems to make it onto the menu!

You can see my cozy spot on the couch where I rest during the afternoon while I help Little Miss with her reading homework and her piano practicing.  On the worst days napping definitely occurs and sometimes Little Miss and I will enjoy a movie together.  Today I might put in Sense and Sensibility, a favourite for a quiet afternoon.  Maybe if I feel up to it I will actually get the dishes out of the dishwasher before Mr. Confessions gets home.  He took Little Miss out on a Daddy-Daughter-Date to see The Lorax.

Thus, while the mice are away, I can play, or sleep, at leisure.  I have the Command Center set up beside me on our coffee table, which is actually an old wooden trunk.  Something for any turn of events!  No, I'm not going to be playing at Wii, but I do need the Wii wand to get Netflix going.  I'm reading The Borrowers to Little Miss, so it's there for when it's time to carry on to the next chapter.  And of course the other necessities - camera, remotes, breath mints since some of the medication I am taking makes my mouth taste like metal, the phone, water, and my fancy pen for writing postcards and letters.

And, naturally, no restful Saturday afternoon would be complete without my furry sidekick, Miss Chloe.  She's such a darling little friend and sticks with me throughout the day whether I'm wandering around the house trying to get ahead of the presently absent Laundry Fairy, or prepare dinner.  She also enjoys laying on the couch with me and sometimes rubs her head into mine to make sure she's getting enough attention and scuffing up behind the ears.

So, with that being said, I do apologize that things haven't been more creatively productive in my posts, but since there doesn't seem to be very much creatively going on right now while I maintain my "Survival Mode", I'll just chat about whatever I can and enjoy your visits and comments all the same.  It sure is heart-warming on a dreary day to see the page-load numbers go up or read your comments.  Thank you to all of you who stop by!

Happy weekend!
Heather

Oh my. Don't I hate it when I'M sick, so I really empathize that you're sick. How sorry I am that you're feeling down and out, and don't even have mojo for some hand work. I have days like those too, but no excuse like being ill! Coddle yourself as you can, and be glad you don't HAVE to keep your house up during this time. Reading sounds like a wonderful way to pass the time. May I recommend: "The Distant Hours" by Kate Morton. I'm reading it, and trying not to devour it!

Sorry to hear you have been so ill Heather, I hope things take a turn for the better soon. To not even be able to enjoy a little crochet is just awful! I know recently with a bad chest infection I just lost all interest which is heartbreaking, especially as sewing/knitting etc is something that feeds your soul, I couldn't even be bothered to sit at the computer, couldn't concentrate and I got so behind on all the goings on! I hope there is some sign of recovery in the near future Heather, sounds as if this has been going on for a while - I wish you well my dear girl - you're usually such a happy and active soul - I admire that about you!!!!
Take care aye!

Creating is just not much fun when you're sick. Take care of yourself and you'll be back to creating in no time. Rest, rest ,rest. I do hope you feel better very soon. I love your little Chloe. I have a Lizzie myself. A tiny yorkie too. Sweethearts aren't they? Take good care of you!
hugs and chicken soup,
Caroline
