I made it home! What a whirlwind trip that was! I was so excited to visit with everyone, meet the twins girls my dear friend had in January, shop with my Mom, and have a special surprise-ish visit with my sister who regularly resides in South Korea.
However, now that I am home, I get to celebrate my birthday today! And what better way to celebrate than to have a giveaway? And this one is sort of a fun one indeed! A couple weeks ago I was contacted by a publicist from Dutton at Penguin Books who asked if I would like to review and comment on a new publication that (at the time) was not available to the public yet...

Does the name Jennifer Chiaverini ring any bells to you quilters out there??? It sure did for me! Ms. Chiaverini is the author of the very popular, quilting themed, eloquently written books in the series she has created called Elm Creek Quilts. The series started in 1999 with The Quilter's Apprentice and has grown to 18 books as of November 2011 with her last publication The Wedding Quilt. Along the way she has also created quilt pattern books and now designs fabric for Red Rooster (click to view beautiful swatches). And I get to review her newest book!!!!!!
My favourite book in her series thus far is The Runaway Quilt. A great historical fiction that takes place during the American Civil War. I couldn't put it down! The next book that just became available February 21 is called Sonoma Rose (click for a synopsis and excerpt) making her series total 19. It is also a historical fiction and looks like a fabulous read! As I read my copy I will give you a few tid-bits - just enough to whet your appetite though, not enough to spoil things for when you read it yourself.
AND....
I also get to give a copy of the book away to one of you lovely folks! HOORAY!!!! That's right! Penguin Publishing gave me a copy of the book AND one of YOU gets a copy of the book too! How exciting is that!!?? I was thrilled to get this news and have been DIEING to share it with you ever since I found out!!
So, wander on over to Jennifer's website and check out the new publication details and come back here to enter the giveaway. Now, normally I am pretty easy going about my giveaways, but this time I'm going to make you work for it! Nothing huge, but maybe it will be fun at the same time...
Find the Sonoma Rose Excerpt and figure out Chapter One's first word (not the excerpt's first word).
Come back here and leave a comment which contains a word that rhymes with that first word you found.
The giveaway is open until March 15th at midnight your time. You don't have to be a follower here, but it's always nice to have more followers. Good luck! And if you can't wait for the giveaway to end, you're welcome to purchase the book through the Amazon website of your choice.
Off to read...
Heather
